Do you remember the old days when my livejournal entries used to be entertaining and interesting? I do. Here's an attempt to regain the glory of my "I have mono so I have nothing better to do than plan out witty entries all day" livejournal. It should work, since I'm avoiding writing a paper, which is usually when all my creativity flows into this thing instead of into my four page discussion of the shortcomings of assimilation theories when dealing with refugee groups. So here goes my noble attempt.
This weekend we had the YDAz convention and I have to say, it's making me rethink my involvement in the organization. While it is true that I enjoy working on political campaigns and in the political arena as a whole, I'm not sure I want to be doing it with an organization that can magically transform into arrogant assholes whenever there is the slightest resemblance of a Maricopa County v. Pima County butting of the heads. The elections were ridiculous, from the immature and insulting questions of ranking members of the ASUYDs to the circus that ensued during elections of Sgt. at Arms. I was about ready to walk out or cry. Or both. I just feel that it's time for me to get my head out of my ass and do something political in the area I'm going into, like say Students for Cleaner Energy and/or Mark Manoil' campaign.
In fact, it's time for me to get my head out of my ass generally. I got a letter today from the school telling me that with the amount of credits I have, I'll have to declare a major if I want to register for next semester. I need to just buckle down and pick geography, realize that it may not be what I really have a passion for, but is finance the passion of every finance major? Is biology the passion of every biology major? I guess it's just apart of becoming an adult, a transition that I'm really hesitant to make.
More on the note of school, when I woke up at 11am today, the following tasks were on my list of things to accomplish:
Finish Social Psych study guide
Finish Social Psych reading
Finish Human Sexual Behavior reading
Pick Human Sexual Behavior extra credit topic
Write Social Geo Paper
Finish French Lab
Finish French homework
And I finished all but my paper and my lab, but my lab isn't due until 7 pm tomorrow and my paper is due by 3pm, so I'm ok with that. Plus all I really have to do is critique three French films. It'll be easy enough to finish up. But yes, I think I had a rather productive day. After tomorrow, this week should cool down a lot. Which will be amazing, as will going home for the weekend mainly to watch the Olympics in HD as opposed to checking Kevin's away message to get curling updates.
Alright, maybe I should attempt to get this paper done before 3 am. Here's to another Dr. Pepper!
